- Synergy: for two or more (design) elements to work together.
- Order and Freedom:
- Structure and Unity: the use of consistent elements within a design
- Symmetry: it(design) is exactly the same all around

- Repetition within Variety: a design that is repeated in a variety of ways: the design could be repeated through different color, shape, texture etc... to add variety.
- Rhythm and Gradation: a series of motifs patterned to relate to each other.
